My devblog #06 Little changes

August 21, 2025

Dear readers, after looking at my nav bar again, I realized it still seemed to be lacking some prominence. Even with the little line underneath that I added to create a visual separation from the rest of the site, the fact that it still had the same background color as the rest of the page was still washing it out slightly.

So, I tried changing it to a slightly darker shade of the color and honestly? I think I like it much better this way. Now I truly feel like it has some real separation from the rest of the page, and I think I’ll leave it just like that.

Besides that, I felt that the font legibility wasn’t very good on the post pages. Courier New is a very thin font, and since I was using brown as a color over the beige background, I felt the contrast was too low. Fortunately, Courier Prime is slightly thicker, and I switched exactly to that one. I feel it is much more readable now.

I sometimes have trouble reading certain things myself, especially on the computer because my eyes tend to get tired very quickly since I spend quite a few hours in front of screens. Texts without dynamism and with low contrast often get jumbled and become difficult to read and absorb, so I can’t leave my blog with low legibility, as I believe I’m not the only one.

But putting that aside, since it’s now resolved, I can say with great joy that I have been making progress on the design of the “about me” page. I’m drawing inspiration mainly from scrapbooks and bullet journals to give it a more “me” look and also add some decoration to the page. This also raised another question: am I going to decorate the whole site like this? I feel that if I only make this one page highly decorated, the rest of the site will look a bit discordant… But at the same time, I don’t know how I would add those decorations.

I believe it’s a matter of experimenting.

I don’t have a deadline for this to be ready, but it’s true that I’d like to finish before the semester starts. I want to report the projects I do at university on here.

Now I really just need to completely finalize the design. The specific page for projects already has a defined base structure, but I had the idea of doing a sort of merge with the aesthetics of the other projects on their specific pages. I feel it would give readers a more interesting experience when getting to know the other projects. Therefore, as they come along, I will then design their exclusive pages in Figma and then add them to the blog.

That’s it for today; I’m going to look for more inspiration on Pinterest to see if I get any more ideas for the appearance.
