Dear readers, I can say that I have finally reached a Homepage that I am satisfied with. The layout is aesthetically pleasing and also well-organized; I’m not sure if it’s very intuitive, but based on what I asked my boyfriend, he said it was for him. I think it wouldn’t hurt to do some usability tests later on.
I made a change to the pages the blog would have. Before, because I wasn’t very sure, I put in some generic pages, but while doing the design I realized that I wanted people visiting the blog to be able to see both all the entries and all my projects, and have the possibility to read about them. Therefore, in addition to the Homepage and the About Us page, the blog will also have a page to read all the entries I make and also one to view my projects.
The design for these pages is also done, and I would say I really like how they turned out.
I have the feeling I strayed a bit from my original idea of doing a more digital and gamified style, but I like how it is now, so I think it’s not that serious—it’s just a personal blog anyway. Even so, I’m going to try putting it in different color palettes and testing other fonts; who knows, maybe I’ll find an alternative version I prefer.
Since I wanted some more feedback, I showed the designs to a friend from college to see what she thought. She said it looked pretty, but the navigation bar didn’t seem to have the prominence it deserved, staying “hidden” from attention, and I really noticed that was true. To solve this, I tried putting it between two lines, and I think that already improves it a lot. I’m going to leave it like this for now and move on to the design of the last remaining page; later on, I should try to see if I can make it even better.
