My devblog #01 Introduction

July 25, 2025

Dear readers, this is a blog designed and built by me, Graziella Custódio, to train and put into practice what I have been learning at university about UI/UX design, Web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and other learned concepts related to these subjects.

It is just a small project to make my vacation productive; I am here writing this simply to have content to put in the posts. Who knows, maybe this site will become my personal dev blog later on? I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea, but for now, I just want a bit of “filler” so I don’t have to take texts from the internet or generate them with AI—I don’t want to become lazy because of that technology.

Today, July 25, 2025, I had the idea for this blog when I woke up in the morning and was having trouble getting out of bed. I decided to make some sketches to define more or less the structure and the appearance and, at least in my opinion, it seems to me that it would be a cute little site.

I really like cute, sweet, and aesthetically pleasing things, so that is what I want to do with this blog. I will probably make it a bit “pindérico” (tacky/kitschy), as my friends here in Portugal say, because I think adding a bit of personality is always good. I know that when I work in this field later on, I will probably be hired to make many generic and basic sites (after all, most sites are like that), so if I can show that I know how to do something a bit more different, maybe I will attract clients looking for a bit more creative work. I don’t want to devalue those sites, however; every company and business has its own needs and brand identities, and the professionals hired to develop the apps and sites do a great job of following those factors.

Anyway, I already have sketches for the home page and the page with all the posts. I should make a few more variants to explore more options, as my professor from the practical component of Multimedia Laboratory 1 at university used to advise.
